About · est. 2023 · Porto
Dew of the sea.
ROMY — rosmarinus, the herb that grows wild on the cliffs above the Atlantic. Salt in the air, sun on the shell. We named the brand after it because that's the trip we want every one of ours to feel like.
ROMY balances playfulness and maturity, cementing the product in the fashion and lifestyle market for those seeking a fun alternative to a functional everyday item.
We embody individuality over conformity, celebrating self-determined and free-spirited personalities. Our expressive and idiosyncratic style differentiates us in a saturated market, offering a bold identity.
The marque takes abstract inspiration from the meaning behind the name — rosemary, dew of the sea. A strong geometric symmetry softened with rounded details, inspired by the fluid concentric circles made by a droplet into a calm body of water.
01 — The origin
A broken wheel in Lisbon airport.
Our founder, Inês Caldeira, was rolling through TAP's gate 41 when the left rear wheel of her very expensive, very beige carry-on sheared off and skittered under a vending machine. She made the flight. The suitcase did not.
On the runway she sketched the first ROMY on the back of a boarding pass: a hard shell loud enough to be seen across the carousel, wheels you could replace with one click, and a colour palette borrowed from the Algarve at golden hour. Three years and seventeen prototypes later, here we are.
"Adulting is hard. Your suitcase shouldn't be boring too."
02 — What we stand on
